CURRICULUM VITAE
I am lecturer and researcher at the CETT Sschool of Tourism, Hospitality and Food services of the Unievrsity of Barcelona. I was director of the University School of Tourism Directorate hotel, attached to the UAB. I also was Professor Doctor for Tourism Studies at the Economy and Business Department of the UOC lecturing tourism business management, tourism planning and ICT in the tourism business.I have participated in European and Spanish R & D projects on ICT and tourism: TIM (Tourism, Information and Marketing – RACE 2078, 1992 – 1994) funded by the Euroepan Commission or TURINTER, funded by the State Secretariat for Tourism and Turespaña (1993-1995). I also too part in the Strategic Tourism Plan of Catalonia (2005-2010). I was a member of the monitoring committee of the National Plan for Innovation and Development Section SISE: Tourism Technology Strategic Action (2007 and 2008).
The aim of my research is the study of tourism management at destinations, the use of information and communications technology and information management and knowledge generated through social networks around tourism. I am a member of the scientific committee of congresses and conferences such as TURITEC Congress of Tourism and Information Technology and Communication organized by the University of Malaga (years 2008, 2010, 2012 and 2014), the Web Based Communities and Social Media Conference, organized by IADIS (2013 and 2014) and ENTER 2015 and 2016, organized by the IFITT.
I am also a reviewer for the journals RUSC – Journal of University and Knowledge Society, Journal of Tourism Research and Research Papers ECT.
I am co-directing a doctoral thesis on gastronomy and local development of tourism destinations to a PhD student at the Auckland University of Technology in New Zealand and since 2012 a member of the scientific committee of the doctoral thesis of Inge Roeniger registered in the UOC IN3 with the title … I am member of the Board Commitee of IFITT (International Federation for IT and Travel and Tourism) and Director of the Innovation Funds and of the National Chapters. .I am also the president and the Spanish chapter.
